I have always been a self-professed ‘Shower person’ because we haven’t had a bath in my parents’ house since I was about 8 years old; and then when I moved to Uni, I’ve had showers for the past two years of my life. Now I’m living in a house instead of student flats, I have a bath and since I’ve always enjoyed the thought of a bubble bath (and I’m slightly obsessed with Lush projects, as your about to find out) so I decided now would be a great time to try it and oh boy! My life has changed.
I will never be a person who enjoys bathing for washing purposes cause I mean who wants to wash in their own filth (sorry but its true) but in terms of a little relaxation there’s nothing better.
Therefore for those likeminded people or those who, like me a few months ago, want to try out the hype behind a good ol’ bubble bath as these cold winter months roll in, I thought I’d give you my top five bubble bath products.

  1. Soap and Glory – ‘Calm One Calm All’ Stress-Battling Softening Bubble Bath, £6.00

Now I was very excited about this when I got it in the summer – I even got money off it, which made me even happier! I was really happy that I took it on holiday with me where I knew there would be a bath so I could enjoy its delights. So one day after I’d been walking in a rainstorm (don’t ask me, my father made me do it) that was part of the tail end of hurricane Bertha, I was soaked through and freezing, perfect time for a bath right? I got my bubble stuff and lo and behold…barely any bubbles! That’s why this is at number 5. The packaging and consistency, smell is all amazing (Lemon Balm and Mallow Extracts) but when it doesn’t bubble up too much it kinda defeats its purpose. So if you’re not fond of a mountain of bubbles then I suggest giving this a try.

  1. Lush – Brightside Bubble Bar. £4.75

This was a little bit of a different kind of product for me. I am an evening, relaxing bath kind of person but this product is marketed as a pick me up product with “Sicilian mandarin, bergamot and tangerine essential oils to help you look on the bright side of life”. I am not much a citrus scent person but this product does smell amazing and yes I’m still amazed with the Lush products that turn the water different colours and this product creates a bright orange colour. Now for the important part – the bubbles! As with most Lush Bubble Bars I’ve tried the amount of bubble you get from them is amazing. This product might seem a little pricey at £4.75 for what it is, however, its HUGE and you get multiple uses out of it as you just break off what you need and crumble it under running water.

3. I Love… – Blueberry & Smoothie Bubble Bath and Shower, £2.99

This product has been put at number three, as it’s my middle product. Whilst the bubbles in this product are great and long lasting, actually the most long lasting of all the products listed here, the wonderful smell you get when you remove the lid does not last unlike with other products mentioned here. That’s just disappointing so I don’t really have much else to say. As the largest product of the two cheapest products I’m not going to deny that it’s worth the buy because it is a great bubble bath but the lack of lasting scent disappointed me because it does smell incredible! But very sweet so if you’re not a fan of sweet, almost artificial, smelling things then maybe take a pass card on this one.

  1. Zoella – ‘Soak Opera’ Bath Soak. £5.00

I have to say, I am a huge fan of Zoe Sugg however when I saw this product I was unsure. I’m always unsure of ‘celebrity’ products and their quality. In fact as this was named a Bath Soak rather than a bubble bath I presumed it would just be added to water for good skin qualities and a nice smell. So you can imagine my surprise when, after smelling its incredible fresh floral scent, I poured it in the bath and a mountain of bubbles formed – and I mean a mountain. I may, admittedly, have gone a little over board but it was amazing. Despite being wrong about it just being a soak I was right about the good skin qualities, packed full of Vitamin E, Aloe and Shea Butter it softens and soothes the skin leaving you feeling and smelling wonderful.

  1. Lush – Creamy Candy Bubble Bar. £2.75

After using this product for the first time I immediately walked out of the bathroom and told my housemate she had to try it. The amount of bubbles produced is perfect, and despite being small you can get at least two uses out of the bar if you break it in half. Trust me – half the bar is enough! Then the smell!! I have a self-proclaimed MAJOR sweet tooth so the fact that this smells like candyfloss already had me sold. It does all this whilst offering the promise of moisture from almond and cocoa butter. When researching this product on the website a little more I discovered that the bar contains chunks of the butter that melt onto the surface of the water which gives your skin that velvety texture.
I’ve already purchased a couple more of these and still love it – it’s my go-to product for a good bath so that is why it’s my number one!

So, what are you waiting for? Go out and buy these products! Get soaking and relaxing and reap the benefits of taking some time for yourself. Plus with winter coming in fast sometimes it’s just nice to be in a place you can stay warm!
