And the Grinch
‘And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled ‘till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.’ – Dr Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Not gonna lie, for me Christmas starts at the beginning of November. Christmas is my absolute favourite time of year, I love all the festivities and how the family comes together and it’s all so loving and fluffy! If you’re still having some trouble getting into the Christmas spirit, have no fear I come bearing my five steps for getting into the Christmas spirit!
Step One – Treat yourself to a Christmas drink.
I absolutely love when Starbucks and Costa bring out their Christmas edition drinks, I would happily give them all of my money for all of the drinks. If you want to ease yourself into it, this is a great way to start. It’s kinda like celebrating Christmas quietly in a cup! Enjoy it; let the Christmasy taste take you over. Even if you don’t think it’s Christmas, I’m pretty sure your taste buds will.
Step Two – Watch The Grinch. (Or some other Christmas film.)
The Grinch is my FAVOURITE Christmas movie, I absolutely adore every second of it and it’s the perfect way to get into the spirit. Do not do as the Grinch does and hate Christmas, let your heart grow three times as you watch this film. The best part of this step is that you’re not committing yourself to get into the Christmas Spirit, if someone see’s you watching it, it could be that you just happen to like the film. (But lets be honest, it was shown the day after Halloween on ITV2, if it’s not too early for them, then it’s not too early for you!)
Step Three – Listen To Christmas Music.
Yes, I am listening to my Christmas playlist right now, why wouldn’t I be?! Ask anyone; it’s literally all I’ve been listening to for the past month. Christmas music has an amazing way of making people come together and feel all happy and bubbly inside. I must warn you, once you partake in this step; you need to know that it’s getting very serious. There is no possible way to listen to the best Christmas hits and wanting it to be Christmas Eve now! If you do not think you can commit to this step, that’s okay, go back to the start and try again, eventually it’ll just feel like you’re supposed to do it.
(This is the playlist I listen to on Spotify!)
Step Four – Wear a Christmas Jumper.
This is it guys, its SERIOUS! Deciding to wear a Christmas jumper is like proclaiming to the world that you are completely in the Christmas Spirit and there is absolutely no turning back. The people here at Tea Break already know that I hit this step a few weeks ago and by that I mean that, yes I turned up to a meeting in a Disney Christmas jumper! Show the world that you and Christmas are now in a committed relationship and aren’t ashamed in the slightest. If you have trouble with this step, do not force it, this should feel natural, like it’s meant to be.
Step Five – Be Happy and Merry.
Well all that’s left to do is hold on tight to the Spirit and spread Christmas cheer. Pretty soon everyone will be spreading Christmas joy with you and you can all smile about the fact that everyone has come together to celebrate something so dear. Revel in the moment and enjoy it while you can.
So be happy, sing Christmas songs until your lungs give out and watch every Christmas movie you own and let us know down below what you do to get into the Christmas spirit every year.
