‘UPTOWN FUNK’ REVIEW
It’s going to be a funky Christmas!
For me Christmas is the happiest time of year; the cupboards are filled to the brim with yummy food and alcohol is in constant flow! For us lucky ones (or unlucky depends how you see it!) we are reunited with members of the family that we don’t always get to see. For artists there is a mad rush to release a song which will be crowned Christmas number 1. However many of these songs are a bit dreary. On the radio we either hear about George Michael giving his heart away or Band Aid wanting us to feed the world. As catchy as these songs are they do not make me think ‘yay it’s Christmas!’ This is why I am excited about the prospect of Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk featuring Bruno Mars being number 1 this Christmas.
Ronson’s catchy bass-line will make anyone think they are listening to an old school funk track and will have you strutting your funky stuff. The track has become a sudden sensation partly due to X-Factor contestant Fleur East (a tad coincidental I know!) performing the song in the semi-final before the song’s release. The hysteria that the performance caused has meant the song has been released 5 weeks earlier than expected, perfect timing for Christmas.
Nevertheless, this catchy jam encompasses the Christmas spirit: it is upbeat, lively and will have your drunken uncle dancing around the kitchen thinking he is a member of the Jackson 5. Little hint from DJ Woulfe it is already the smash hit in 2015!
