BEST DRESSED MEN: THE OSCARS 2015
Best Dressed Man is tricky. I mean with women you’ve got different dress cuts, bold choices, different colours, different accessorises, interesting hair styles…but with men the choices tend to be white, blue or black and bow tie or tie. But let’s give them the benefit of the doubt and also it gives us a chance to marvel at gorgeous men in suits and you can’t go wrong with that now can you?
First up, Mr Best Actor himself: Eddie Redmayne in Alexander McQueen.
Now if you know me at all, you will know my love for this man is strong so my bias presents itself highly – but I have to say he may be the best dressed of the night. A classic cut suit with a bow tie in royal blue makes Eddie stand out from sea of standard black suits you normally see. And since this man is colour blind you know whoever dressed him knows exactly what they are doing to make this man look very good in something a little different.
Secondly, I’m kind of cheating here but best dressed couple of the evening? David Burtka in Calvin Klein and Neil Patrick Harris in Brunello Cucinelli.
Neil went for something a little different in a two-tone grey suit with matching bow tie, while husband David went for the classic monochrome dinner suit and bow tie. They both look great and adorable and they even adjusted each other’s bow ties on the red carpet…I think they were just trying to cute us all to death.
Next up is David Oyelowo in Dolce and Gabbana.
Now I picked David just for the sheer bravery of doing something different and just how easily he is rocking it! Looking sharp and pristine in a red tux with a jewelled brooch on his lapel, David might have just snagged Best Dressed of the evening away from Eddie in my eyes.
Here we have Chris Pine in our first classic black suit by Armani.
I swear this man cannot go wrong in the ‘looking good’ department, but this classic black suit and bow tie combination looks like perfection on Mr Pine – with the addition of some pretty damn perfect five o’clock shadow. Yep…maybe he can do wrong.
My last pick for the list is Chris Evans in Gucci.
Yet another black tie pick but quite frankly I couldn’t leave him off the list. Yes my bias is showing again but much like the other Chris on this list, Mr. Evans pretty much looks great in everything (even a star spangled tight onesie and a shield accessory). This is another beautiful and well-fitted classic black suit with bow tie and it looks fabulous. Tell me I’m wrong!
This year seems to have been the year for branching out for men. In the past it’s been all the classics as I’ve previously mentioned and the women are the ones with the creative outlet in their dresses during award season, but this year the men have taken note from their female counter parts and have tried something a little different and I have to say – it works!
