On May 4th 2015, well known faces from every entertainment strand joined forces for one of fashions biggest nights on the calendar, the annual MET Gala in New York. The event, which is in its 69th year, celebrates the annual fashion exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and is undisputed for the styles which are generated on its famous red carpet.

Here are some of the most stand out looks from the night, which had the theme of China: Through the Looking Glass.

Rihanna in Guo Pei

Of course we had to start this list with the most talked about style of the night. Rihanna’s imperial yellow, fur trimmed cape has been the talk of Twitter and the biggest meme since she stepped on to the red carpet. Whilst the look might resemble an omelette or pizza to some, by opting to wear the design, Rihanna became one of few attendees to showcase an outfit made by a Chinese designer, and truly embrace the theme of the night.

Kim Kardashian in Peter Dundas for Cavalli

It seems no event would be held without the presence of at least one Kardashian or Jenner, and this year’s MET Gala got 2 Jenner’s, a Kardashian and a West. Kim was one of several attendees to showcase a sheer dress, and took to Instagram to declare her inspiration for the gown, Cher! Definitely a better look for Mrs West than her 2013 Mrs Doubtfire dress!

Sarah-Jessica Parker in Philip Treacy

She’s claimed the title of a fashion icon FOREVER as Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw and, as a co-chair for the MET Gala, alongside Vogue Editor Anna Wintour, she sure knows how to impress. On the night, Sarah-Jessica Parker rocked some seriously eccentric head wear which became her statement look of the night, outshining her H&M Conscious Collection gown.

Karen Elson in Dolce and Gabbana

For me, this was one of the best looks of the night. There was something regal about the model’s look, from the crown, to the gold corset, Elson looked like royalty. Does anyone else think her style was a bit, China: Through the Looking Glass meets Game of Thrones?

Olivier Rousteing in Balmain

We couldn’t forget the fashionable men who graced the red carpet on the evening, and this was by far a look that stood out from the typical suit and tie. You may have seen Olivier on the Instagram accounts of the likes of Kendall Jenner, and the Balmain model certainly looked stylish in his custom jewelled jacket and velvet trousers.
