Welcome to Tea Break!

Hello there, and welcome to Tea Break!
My name is Ben and I’m the Chairman for this wonderful, creative society. Here at Tea Break, we’re proud of the online magazine/blog that we have created over the past year and we’re looking forward to carrying that on into the next year!

To date, we’ve had such a wide range of articles written for this extremely popular blog regarding Film and TV reviews, music reviews, fashion articles, tips for students, discussion posts and wider culture around the university. And to a view count of nearly 20,000 over the past year!

We’ve created Tea Break DMU as a platform for students interested in journalism and creative writing and we love to encourage our writers to think outside the box to come up with new ways to make the content they create stand out from the crowd!

This is where our infamous Web Week series came in!
One of our inspirations for this blog was the extremely popular website Buzzfeed. Some of the most shared and enjoyed content produced by Buzzfeed is the videos and sketches they produce to accompany the wide range of witty and relatable content they feature daily on the site. This is something we wanted to try!

From our very popular Eating Challenges to the hilarious Whisper Challenge (featuring previous chair and creator of Tea Break and DMU graduate Anna Landi and DMU graduate James Dodge), we enjoyed every moment we spent creating the videos and we would love to do more of them!

Finally, Tea Break took home ‘The Outstanding Contribution within the Local Community’ award at the DSU Society awards this year, with nominations in several other categories, including Society Of The Year!

It has been a fantastic year for us! And now, it’s your turn.

I’m extending my hand to all DMU students, to join us in this weird and wonderful adventure. Do you have passion to create and produce something amazing.

To our writers out there, if you want to tell us about your favourite thing/book/film/smell/Taylor Swift song, this is the place to do it! If you want to rant and rave about something, send it to Tea Break. If you want to produce some creative work that you’d like to show the world, we’ve got a spot for you here.

We’re also looking for video editors and vloggers! If you think you could be the next Zoella or Tom Fletcher, we want you on Tea Break. If you love Buzzfeed and want to give a ‘Top Five Ways…’ video a go, this is your chance!

This is a perfect opportunity for many of our DMU students who are interested in media and journalism and this also gives many students a way to express themselves! We’re a friendly bunch who would love to meet as many of you as possible so bring all your fantastic ideas to Freshers Week and we’ll see you all there!

Finally, I want to give a big thank you to all of our DMU graduates who worked and wrote for us last year! Congrats to all of you for passing and good luck in the future!
Anna Landi, Amy Jones, Natasha Lane, James Dodge, Victoria Cox, Eleanor Wolfe, Rachael Millmoor and Jordan Watson.
