Halloween is quickly approaching so for those of us (no need to be ashamed!) who do not like scary horror movies, here are some movies that are definitely watchable!

  • Shaun Of The Dead

Starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. I loved this movie when I watched it, yes it has gore and blood but it is in the genre of ‘horror comedy’ giving this zombie apocolypse film a lighter feel.

  • Hotel Transylvania

With voices including Andy Samberg, Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez, this animated film brings together the world’s monsters to a hotel where they can take a break from living in the human world. Fun for all the family of course!

  • Casper

If you have not heard of this classic movie, are you living under a rock?! Casper ‘the friendly ghost’ haunts a mansion, Christina Ricci is the teenager who makes friends with him and well you can see for yourself how well that goes…

  • Corpse Bride

Starring the voices of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Emily Watson. Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride is an animated musical fantasy film set in Victorian times. It is about Victor, the shy groom to an arranged marriage who runs from his wedding rehearsal and accidently places the wedding ring on the tree root which turns out to be the Corpse Bride…

Now for some obligatory Disney choices (no scares here of course!)…

  • Hocus Pocus

Another classic about a group of teenagers accidently freeing a trio of witches known as the Sanderson Sisters, starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the trio, this is one of the most famous Disney halloween movies.

  • Twitches

I love Tia and Tamera Mowry! You might remember them from Sister Sister or seen their reality show Tia and Tamera. In this film they star as twin witches ‘Twitches’ who are seperated at birth but after their 21st birthday they need to use their magical powers to save the world in which they were born!

  • Halloweentown

Similar to Twitches, Halloweentown is a film following the life of a girl who discovers she is a witch and helps to save a town full of other supernatural creatures like herself.

These are just a few out of the endless movies you could be watching on Halloween! What are some of your favourites?
