What’s On During DMU LGBT+ Pride Month?

It’s February, which means that DMU has launched LGBT+ Pride Month. Whatever you identify as there are events, socials and workshops on for the rest of this month. So sit back, hold on tight and prepare for the most fabulous month ever!

Monday 6th February: Launch Day

What time is it? 12pm-2pm
Where is it? Campus Centre Cafe

To kick off the month, there’s a launch event at Campus Centre with stalls, DMU Pride Shirts (based on a first come first basis) and tye dying. It’s the perfect way to start off a month of Pride.


Tuesday 7th February: Bossa Karoke

What time is it? Meeting at Food Village at 6:30pm and heading to Bossa at 7pm
Where is it? Bossa Cafe

Nothing says pride better than a good round of Karaoke! Head down to Bossa and enjoy a good drink, superb entertainment from Leicester’s very own Drag Queen Fanny Burns, and sing your heart out.


Wednesday 8th February: British LGBT+ Film Screening of ‘Pride’

What time is it? 5pm till 8pm
Where is it? DMU Campus Queens Building

After the antics of Tuesday night, why not head to Queens Building and enjoy a screening of the 2014 film ‘Pride’? A great atmosphere and a beautiful movie.


Friday 10th February: LGBT+ Chart Show

What time is it? 6pm till 7pm
Where is it? On DemonFM online and radio

To get a weekend full of Pride started, don’t forget to listen to DemonFM chart show with an LGBT+ twist. With well known pride songs, and some ones that have skipped your radar, it is set to be a fabulous show.


Friday 10th February: LGBT+ Icon Night

What time is it? 8pm
Where is it? Starts at Rainbow and Dove

To end the first full week of pride, why not dress up as some of your favourite LGBT+ Icons and have a sickening night. From Rainbow and Dove, to Bossa and then Helsinki to finish the night in style!


Monday 13th February: Sexuality Awareness

What time is it? 5pm-7pm
Where is it? Queens Building, 0.10

Got a question about sexuality? Want to voice a concern in a safe atmosphere? Then this talk is perfect with a Q&A session with members of the LGBT+ Committee as well as creative ways of expressing your sexuality.


Monday 20th February: Gender Awareness

What time is it? 5pm-7pm
Where is it? Queens Building 0.10

Gender and ways of expressing gender can be complicated to understand and talk about. This session is open for discussions about gender identity and our own interpretations of gender.
